My name is Carlo Patetta Rotta, I am an Italian entrepreneur who lived for many years in London and now based again in my beautiful hometown, Turin.

Even though I didn't have an art background, on March 2019 I decided I needed a change in my life and I wanted to develop my creative side.

I enrolled to the Accademia Pictor in Turin, where I took oil painting classes from ‘maestro’ Aldo Antonietti, who besides being a prominent oil painter is also a well-known photographer. Like Aldo, I also cultivate the passion for photography and I believe that this fact impacts a lot of my style of painting. The subjects I prefer are mainly landscapes, nature, portraits and my prevailing style is figurative, even though I don’t disdain to experiment with more abstract styles and/or different mediums, such as wax and salt.

Over the time, I realized that I prefer to express my art on canvas of large size. I like the idea of filling a whole large wall with just one of my paintings. In this way, I can represent not just a single subject but a cluster of them, by including the relationships and interactions among them and hence by adding much more details I create real sceneries instead of representing just a steady subject. As a result, it’s not rare that I paint canvas as large as 120x80cm or more.

 

My eye is caught by any image that is associated to beauty and positive feelings. By painting them I believe I make them last forever. I can’t agree more with Pablo Picasso who said ‘Painting is just another form of keeping a diary’.

 

Some of my artworks have been exhibited at ‘Promotrice delle Belle Arti’ in Turin (Italy) and others have been selected and commented on video by the art critic Plinio Perilli.
